In the name of Allah, the Most Exalted

Condolences to the Imam of Time, Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) and all Shiites on the sad demise of the great religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani (may his soul rest in peace).  In the wake of frequently asked questions sent to the office of Grand Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani about Taqlid, it is hereby stated that since most of the current jurists permit staying in taqlid of a deceased mujtahid, his eminence’s Muqalldeen (followers) therefore can stay in taqlid of him in the light of the following two points:

1-     As per the edicts (fatwas) of most of the current grand jurists, it is obligatory to remain in taqlid of a deceased mujtahid, if a muqallid has made sure of him being A’alam (the most learned).

2-    In view of the edicts of some of the jurists who permit remaining in taqlid of a mujtahid exclusively in those matters which had been learnt by a muqallid or practiced by him, it is necessary for the muqallideen of his eminence to follow the most learned of the living mujtahids in other cases.
