Qadha

Prayer

The prayer which is performed after the defined time is Qadha prayer.

299 - A person should offer his/her prayers within the prescribed time and if prayers are not performed within that time without any excuse one should repent and perform its Qadha.

300 - It is obligatory to perform Qadha prayersin two cases:
a) The obligatory prayers are not offered specified time.

b) A person realises after the time for the prayers has lapsed, that the prayers which he/she offered in time was void.

301 - A person having Qadha prayers on him/her should not be careless about offering them, although, it is not obligatory for him to offer it immedietly.

302 - As an obligatory precaution the Qadha daily prayers should be performed in order, for example if a person does not perform the Asr prayer and Zuhr prayer in the next day so, he/she must perform Asr prayer at first and then Zuhr prayer.

303 - If a person does not know their exact number of Qadha prayers, for example he/she does not know whether they were 4 or 5, it will be sufficient if he/she offers the smaller number.

304 - If a person has known their exact number but she/he has forgotten, it is obligatory precaution that she/he offers the most number.

305 - Qadha prayers can be offered in congregation, irrespective of whether the prayers of the Imam are Qadha or not, and it is not necessary that both of them should beoffernig the same prayers, for example, there is no harm if a person offers Qadha Fajr prayer with the Zuhr prayer or Asr prayer of the Iman.

306 - If the prayers of the traveller, who should have offered Asr prayer (two Rak-at) become Qadha fore the Zuhr, Asr, or Isha prayers, he/she should perform its Qadha as Qasr (shortened, two Rak-at) even if he/she makes the Qadha at his/her home town or while she/he is not travelling.

307 - On journey one cannot perform fasting even Qadha fasting, but one can perform Qadha prayers.

308 - If a traveller makes up for the Zuhr, Asr and Isha prayers which have become Qadha in his/her home town, that person should perform its Qadha as full.

309 - The Qadha prayer can be performed at any time, i.e. it can be performed during the Qadha prayer at Zuhr or night.

Qadha Prayers of Father and Mother

310 - As long as a person is alive, no other person can offer that person's Qadha on his/her behalf, even if she/he him/herself is unable to offer them.

311 - If a person did not offer some of his/her obligatory prayers and fasts, and did not care to give Qadha, after his/her death, it is obligatory upon his/her eldest son to perform these Qadha.

312 - As an obligatory precaution, performing the Qadha prayers and fasting of mother, is upon her eldest son.
